How Asking The Right Questions Can Change Your Life

Many people ask me: “but what job do you have?” — and I’m always like, it’s 2023, working online is really not a novelty any more.

While I of course don’t mind talking about it, I think often times the core of this question is something else.

I think it often comes from a desire how to live a more self-determined or free life (there must be a reason you are asking me and not somebody else) — and not which job you should attain.

A job might be a means to do so, but it’s not the core of it: what makes you feel free is very subjective.

So maybe you should be asking yourself some other questions first!

Why is that important?

  1. It helps you understand your why: you need to start questioning your “why” first. The how will follow.
  2. It helps you shift your perspective: do you think life happens to you or for you? If you start realizing that life is your creation, you will eventually realize that, after all, you have ownership over your decisions. The key to change lies in your hand already. Maybe it’s time to reflect on your old thought patterns, and choose which ones no longer serve you. This can also help you to be more empathetic towards other peoples’ paths, and seek inspiration.
  3. It helps you to action: asking yourself the right questions will help you to action. Why? Because you start understanding the layers, and the real intention behind what’s moving you. It will help you make sense of what’s right for you, and once you have an idea what that could be, how you can go towards it — why and how always move together.

Here are some questions you can ask yourself today:

  • If money wasn’t an issue, what would I be doing?
  • What makes me feel free?
  • How much stability and security do I need to feel safe?
  • Which place makes me feel like my best self?
  • How important is a stable circle of friends or proximity to my family for me?
  • Is there something people keep on asking me about? What can’t I stop talking about?
  • Am I rather self-reliant or community-oriented?
  • Which environment fosters my learning, and in which areas do I want to elevate my growth?
  • Which environments calms or triggers my nervous system?

So, stop thinking in job titles. Understand your own layers — imagine what would happen ✨
